Brick Walls and Garden Walls in Bournemouth

Most of the walls we build are garden walls: the wall across the front of the house, the boundary between two gardens, the low run that keeps a driveway off the lawn. It is the work we do most of and the work we are best at, which is why it sits at the top of this page rather than buried in a list.

Which kind of wall you need usually comes down to what the wall has to do. A garden or boundary wall marks a line and takes the wind. A retaining wall is holding ground back, so it is a heavier build than it looks from the front. Piers and gate posts carry a load in one spot rather than along a run. We price every wall after we have stood in front of it, not from a list. What moves the figure is the length and height, the brick you want, whether there is anything to take down first, and how easy it is to get materials round the back. We put that figure in writing before anything is ordered, and once given it does not move.

We are not the cheapest bricklayers in Dorset and we will not pretend to be. What you get for it is a wall built to a high standard, a five-year guarantee on the workmanship, and someone who turns up when they said they would.

The work we are proudest of is the skilled stuff. A semi bespoke brickwork wall in Bournemouth, laid in Flemish bond with blue bullnose engineering bricks, a pattern a lot of bricklayers do not pick because it takes more time and more skill. It turned out great. If that is the sort of wall you have in your head, say so when we come and look, because the bond changes both the price and how long the wall takes.

We work out of Ferndown and travel up to about an hour from there, which covers Dorset and a bit of Hampshire. Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne, Broadstone, Christchurch, Ferndown, Ringwood, Verwood and New Milton are all inside that hour, we cover Salisbury too, and the business address is in Wimborne. Two things we do not take on: heritage lime mortar repointing, and new build brickwork. Nearly all of what we do is domestic work for homeowners, and wall building is the part of it we want more of.
