Privacy Policy

This website belongs to JFE Brickwork. The only thing it asks you for is an enquiry, and when you send one it comes straight to our inbox. This page sets out what we collect, why we are allowed to hold it, who else touches it on the way and what you can ask us to do about it. We have kept it in plain English.

Who is responsible for your information. JFE Brickwork is the data controller, which means we are the ones who decide what gets collected and what happens to it. Everything below is governed by the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What the enquiry form collects. Your name, your phone number, your email address and a description of the work you want doing. Where the form is set up as a quote request it also asks which service you are after and the rough size of the job, and the size answer is optional. That is the lot. There is no account to set up, nothing to pay for on this site, and no other form on it.

Two things are added automatically when you press send. The page you were reading, and which button you clicked to open the form. They tell us which parts of the site are doing their job. Neither of them says anything about you.

Why we are allowed to hold it. Answering an enquiry and putting a quotation together are steps taken at your request before any contract, and that is the lawful basis for the details you send us. Keeping a record afterwards of work we have quoted for or carried out is a legitimate interest of the business. Cookies that are not strictly necessary rely on your consent, which you give or refuse on the cookie banner.

What we do not do with it. We do not sell your details, rent them out or pass them to another trade. We are not building a mailing list and you will not be added to one. You will hear from us about your enquiry and about the job, and that is all.

Who else handles it. The form is delivered by a form service called Web3Forms, which takes your message and passes it to our inbox. The website itself is hosted by Vercel. Our email sits with our email provider. The map at the bottom of every page is Google's own embed, so Google can see that your browser loaded it. The agency that built this site and looks after it can also see enquiries as they arrive, because they set the form up and keep it working. Each of those is a supplier doing a job for us, not somebody we have handed your details to for their own use.

Where it is held. Some of those suppliers run their systems on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, they are required to protect your information to UK standards under the safeguards data protection law sets out for sending information abroad.

How long we keep it. We keep your enquiry, and the record of any job that follows it, for no longer than we need it, and for as long as the law requires us to keep records of work we have done. Ask us to delete it sooner and we will.

Cookies. One small record is stored in your browser to remember whether you accepted cookies, so the banner stops asking you on every visit. That one is necessary for the site to behave itself and the only way to remove it is to clear it yourself.

Measuring how the site is used. We look at visitor numbers, which pages get read, roughly which part of the country people are in, and whether pages load quickly, because that is how a website gets better instead of staying the same. Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights do that counting without cookies and without naming anyone. Google Analytics is used as well where it is switched on for this site, and that one does set cookies, which is what the banner is asking you about.

Changing your mind. Clear this site's stored data in your browser and the cookie banner comes back on your next visit, so you can answer it differently. Your browser settings can block cookies outright if you would rather.

Security. Your enquiry travels to us over an encrypted connection and lands in a password-protected email account. We hold your details in as few places as the job needs and no more. No system anywhere is perfect and we are not going to claim otherwise.

Your rights. You can ask us what we hold about you and get a copy of it. You can ask us to correct it if it is wrong, to delete it, or to stop using it in a particular way. You can object to what we are doing with it, and where we are relying on your consent you can withdraw that whenever you like. Email or ring us and we will deal with it within one month. It costs you nothing.

No automated decisions. Nothing on this site profiles you or decides anything about you by itself. Every quote is priced by us, after we have been out and looked at the job.

If you are not happy. Tell us first and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy. If the way this site works changes, this page changes with it, and the date under the heading tells you when that last happened.
